Yeatman Babies’ Party

The Friends of the Yeatman Hospital organised a party for those who were born at the Yeatman or who gave birth there.

More than 120 mothers and their babies, born at the Yeatman before 1986, met to celebrate and thank the Hospital Staff in Sherborne on Saturday evening, September 21, 2019.

125 birthday guests attended, aged from 91 to 36, who either gave birth or were born at the hospital including our current Sherborne Mayor, Cllr Jon Andrews.

Guests included 92 year old Jean Luffman, the oldest party-goer, who was a nurse at the Yeatman, together with her daughter who was born there.

Then there was Peggy Poole who celebrated her 80th birthday at the event. Mrs Poole came with her sister and her two daughters who were also born at the Yeatman. The youngest Yeatman baby present was Sacha Pascal who was born in 1986.

David Hayes, Chairman of the Friends of Yeatman, welcomed the guests and reported that the Friends were proud of the Hospital’s history, especially the clinical care that the doctors and nursing staff provided for successful births.

We thank Waitrose and Oxford’s Bakery who provided the wines and birthday cakes for the evening’s celebration.
