AGM 2020

We have been busy during the last year working together to meet the numerous challenges due to the global crisis of COVD19 by supporting local campaigns, identifying both the problems and opportunities that COVID19 has presented.

However, none of this has stopped our long term thinking about how the Friends continues to remain relevant to the Hospital and our wider Sherborne Community.

We have been examining  how we might best meet those needs and continue to secure a future to achieve our objectives.

With this in mind we are pleased to announce the nomination of two new Trustees, Fiona Hartley and Rebecca Tillin, who will be elected / appointed at the AGM.

Going forward this means a stronger group of Trustees, identifying issues and societal challenges where we feel we can make a difference to create ever more impact. We are actively seeking to bring all parts of our community, as well as all of our assets and resources, together to meet these goals.

At the September meeting of the Friends Executive Committee it was agreed that holding a face to face AGM was not feasible in the current situation with the Covid19 pandemic. However, in order to demonstrate and maintain good governance the trustees decided that this year the AGM would be held virtually.

This will take place on the 16th November 2020, at 6:00pm . It will be conducted via ZOOM and full details and how to access the meeting will be available on the website

The agenda and all documents relating to the AGM, including a resolution to amend the constitution and nominations for officers and trustees, will be posted on the site.  Should anyone wish to propose a person as an officer and trustees please do so by the 10th November 2020, BY REGISTERING ONLINE AT

It is important that anyone wishing to attend the AGM, or ask questions needs to register online through the Friends website and complete the appropriate forms, to ensure we record names and their eligibility to vote.

The election process will be administered and controlled  by the Friends of the Yeatman Hospital. If you have any questions about the election or require assistance with the voting process, please contact by email

I look forward to welcoming you to our first “Virtual-AGM”

Yours sincerly

David G Hayes CBE

Thank you to Gail and Sarah who has been busy making Facemasks and asking for donations which can vary from £1 to £20 per facemask. The total stands currently at £1000.

One of the Scrubs stitchers, was donated some elastic from Millie of Slipped Stitch as a contribution to the Friends.

“It’s my preasure to be able to help the hospital in any way I can. I also designed a crochet along blanket over lockdown and from every kit sold I put some money to the Friends of the Yeatman so I must tally it up and organise to get a cheque to you.”

        Communifit T-shirt donation

Never bought a Communifit T-shirt or vest, or maybe you want another colour? There’s no better time than now.

Buy T-shirt or vest and make a donation from every sell to support both the Friends of the Yeatman and the Yeovil Hospital Charity

As you know the NHS, and the country, is under attack from the COVID19-Virus.

Because of this, there is a national shortage of scrubs, (lightweight protective clothing) for doctors and nurses and long-sleeved gowns. This affects all of us in Sherborne.

While social-distancing is important – there is more you can do for yourself, family, friends and neighbours.

If you have a sewing machine or overlocker and are willing to sew clinical scrubs from a simple pattern, the Friends of the Yeatman Hospital are looking for you.

This is your opportunity to make a difference. SHERBORNE NEEDS YOU, and your sewing machine!

We will provide the material and the one-size patterns for scrubs and long-sleeved gowns for our doctors, nurses and healthcare staff at the Yeatman.

Will you provide the skills to produce the goods?

Any and all extras will be shared across other Dorset NHS hospitals

The Friends of Yeatman Hospital has donated £1000, to this project and we invite our Friends to consider donating specifically to this project.

Please contact Linsley Withers on or telephone 07903 955024.
